Anger as motor

An informal culinary experience curated by Ana Brankovic taking place in the intimate setting of Swiss artist Miriam Cahn’s former studio in Basel. “Brought to the Table” asked not only what we serve, but what we bring with us—into the room, onto the plate, and between each other.

The edition “Anger as Motor” draws from Miriam Cahn’s quote “Anger is a very good motor for art”. Brankovic wrote an open menu paper that echoed and responded to her artistic practice in a poetic way that was translated into dishes by the young food enthusiasts Jim and Micha who collaborated together for the first time. Guided by the motto, guests were invited to gather around the table—not only to eat, but to discover, experiment and exchange around themes of vulnerability and anger which were translated into taste, texture, and ritual.

Held in a space once charged with the intensity of Cahn’s creative process, the culinary experience invited reflection on how emotion shapes everyday gatherings. The former studio, now a quietly restored apartment, held traces of its past life—amplifying the dialogue between creativity, collaboration and daily life. Archival images from the studio and a contextual text by Brankovic in the building’s entrance offered insight into the life and work of artist Miriam Cahn.
